House Plan "Midland"
The Midland House fully corresponds to the idea of Frank Wright, who believed that modern housing should literally "grow" from the ground, be a part of nature and its harmonious development. The house is freed from the captivity of unnaturalness, from unnecessary details and decorations, monotonous structures and bulky forms. Instead, horizontality and squatness, angularity and severity of lines, as well as laconicism and linearity, which came to Wright's style from minimalism, predominate.
The beauty of organic architecture in the Midland House is emphasized by:
• a wide almost flat roof with large overhangs, made in Japanese motifs;
• a closed basement, which erases the boundary between the house and the landscape;
• accent additions in the form of protrusions (garage, open and open terraces);
• segmentation, which creates the feeling that the house is made up of separate cubes;
• a wide terrace (an indispensable attribute of Wright's style);
• huge panoramic windows that enhance the connection of the house with the environment.
The horizontal orientation of the house is located to the wide glazing. Large windows provide a sufficient level of illumination during the day and reflect the landscape outside. Inside the house also corresponds to the principles of Wright's style. This is manifested in the openness of the layout, where all rooms flow into each other, creating the effect of boundless space.
The layout of the Midland house is also interesting, as it is unusual for traditional European taste. The house is divided into asymmetrical sections, each of which has its own atmosphere. The bedrooms are located in the far corner of the house, protrude from the courtyard and have access to the terrace, and the kitchen with the living room traditionally occupy the central part of the layout.
Among the features of the Midland house, we can note:
• one floor, where everything you need is located;
• the presence of premises for staff;
• a built-in garage with an entrance through the house;
• a large spacious terrace with several entrances from the house;
• a minimum of partitions inside the house (only the most necessary).
